SHG Open Day

On Saturday 20 April we hosted the SHG Open Day. The morning was a great success with kids (young and old) enjoying popcorn cooked up by our receptionist Sue and her two kids Will and Grace. Our masseur Pete was on standby working his magic with free massages, and Trav our Exercise Physiologist provided nutrition and exercise tips for people of all ages and fitness levels. Up the back in the Pilates studio, Kelly and Vicki showed off their strength and control with Pilates demonstrations, whilst Jarrad conducted running assessments on the treadmill with our real-time feedback system in the podiatry room.

The crowd favourite was Cavalier King Charles puppy, Coda, owned by our soon-to-be receptionist Amanda.

The crowd favourite for the morning, however, was Cavalier King Charles puppy, Coda, owned by our soon-to-be receptionist Amanda. Amanda will be filling in for Sarah while she’s off on her European adventure, and the Open Day was a great opportunity to introduce her to the Seaview community.

We also ran a prize draw for all who attended. Up for grabs were two 5x Pilates class passes and 1x 60 minute massage voucher.

And the winners are....

Winners were drawn at random, with Pippa Tourney, Susan Beaumont, and Susan Brunialti the lucky winners of the Pilates vouchers, and Kaye Baxter the winner of the massage voucher. Congratulations to you all and see you soon!

The entire SHG team extends a huge thank you to everyone who came down to the Open Day. Your support means a lot and we hope you enjoyed the morning!

LOVE is in the Air

More congratulations are in order, this time to our Osteopath Tom McCormick, who tied the knot with his now-wife Kate over that same weekend.

Tom & Kate
Congrats Tom & Kate xx

They were married at Sails on the Bay, and could not have looked more in love. Congratulations to them both! The team are all looking forward to Tom’s return to work in June, to hear all about their honeymoon.

Podiatry

Who is Jarrad Matheson?

In February we welcomed Jarrad Matheson to the SHG team. Jarrad is our in-house podiatrist who has a passion for improving performance by improving foot and gait mechanics. He also has significant experience in providing high-risk diabetics with appropriate wound care and diabetic foot health education through his work at the Monash Medical Centre.

With his comprehensive understanding of biomechanical dysfunctions and the detailed assessments he conducts, Jarrad has fast become a well trusted practitioner amongst SHG patients.
— Dave Hellyer, Director SHG

How can Jarrad help me?

Podiatrists can help with many ailments relating to feet and movement. Specifically, Jarrad can help manage and treat;

  • Foot and ankle injuries
  • Foot complications related to medical conditions
  • Conditions relating to gait or walking.
  • Ailments resulting from diabetes

To assist with this treatment he may prescribe orthotics, which are a supplementary device that can help to

  • Reduce pain
  • Optimise sports performance and function mobility
  • Aid in general movement assistance
  • Aid rehabilitation from fractures after the removal of a cast
  • Correct the shape and / or function of body alignment

Free gait assessment and footwear analysis

Jarrad is currently offering Free Gait Assessments and Footwear Analyses. By recording and assessing your running movement in real-time, gait analysis will help him to identify any posture or movement-related issues you may have, and then prescribe appropriate footwear or a course of treatment accordingly. To book your free Gait Assessment and Footwear Analysis, call Sarah and Sue at reception on 9589 7815.
