Children’s Podiatry

Children’s feet differ from adults’ as the bones are not fully formed and therefore are soft, pliable and vulnerable to damage. During this stage of life, your child may struggle  to articulate the extent of their pain. This is why as a parent, it is vital to pay close attention to your child’s feet.

Does you child…

  • Walk on their tippy-toes?

  • Tend to sit in a “W” position?

  • Walk in-toed (pigeon-toed) or Out-toed (like a duck)?

  • Complain of foot or ankle pain during or after sport?

  • Have flat feet?

  • Complain of sore knees or legs?

  • Suffer  from ingrown toenails?

  • Appear to be clumsy?

  • Self-exclude from sport?

No concern is too big or too small when it comes to your child. Book an appointment with one of our friendly and caring podiatrists, for a comprehensive assessment of your little one.

Nail and skin conditions

Our Beaumaris Podiatrist’s are passionate about assessing and treating any reason or condition that may be preventing you from loving your feet. Whether you hate the look of your feet, or are suffering with an ingrown toenail, this consult will help restore your foot health and take you one step closer to having summer-ready feet.

During this consultation, an in-depth assessment of your skin and nail health will be performed. All medical history will be discussed, so we can understand your needs and provide a tailored treatment plan. Learn more about your feet, whilst we answer any questions you have for your peace of mind.

Some common skin and nail conditions include:

  • Corns and Callus & hard skin removal

  • Verrucae or plantar warts

  • Ingrown toenails

  • Tinea Pedis or “athlete’s foot”

  • Fungal-infections

  • Dry, cracked heels*

  • Mis-shaped, damaged or “ugly” toenails

An infected toe is a common foot problem that people experience. The most common types of infected toes are those related to ingrown toenails, which are caused by bacteria, and infected toes caused by nail fungus. Our Beaumaris Podiatrists are experts at managing skin and nail conditions, and often the treatment can be simple and with limited discomfort.

Diabetic Footcare

The potential effects of diabetes on the feet are often mis-understood or ignored. Diabetes affects the feet in two main ways:

  1. Nerve damage, where you may experience pins and needles, numbness, burning or loss of feeling,

  2. Poor blood flow to the feet and lower limb

Diabetics often suffer from other conditions including heart and vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, arthritis and other nerve conditions, all of which can increase your risk of developing foot problems.

At Seaview Health Group in Beaumaris, our podiatrists take the time to explain and help you to understand how and why foot complications happen and ways to prevent them from developing. We encourage all our patients with diabetes to adopt a proactive approach so they can manage their diabetes and continue to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Your consult may include:

  • Neurological and vascular screening

  • Wound management and prevention

  • General foot and nail care

  • Footwear and fitting advice

  • Pressure deflection
